Every family is a library of stories nobody wrote down.
A Story or Two started with a simple, uncomfortable observation: the people who can tell your family’s stories won’t be able to tell them forever — and a transcript alone was never the point. The laugh in the middle of a sentence was.
The voice is the heirloom
Everything in A Story or Two begins with an original recording, and that original is never edited, overwritten, or thrown away. Transcripts, tidied-up text, and the connections between stories are all made from the source — the source itself stays exactly as it was spoken.
That’s a design rule, not a slogan: anything our software derives can be recomputed, but a grandmother’s telling of the storm of 1974 cannot.
Disagreement is part of the story
Ask three siblings about the same summer and you’ll get three different summers. Most tools would pick one version. We keep all three, side by side, because the differences are where a family actually lives.
When AI helps — transcribing, suggesting who was mentioned — it proposes and a person decides. Nothing becomes part of your family’s record because a model guessed it.
Private by default
A family space is invitation-only. Every story has an audience its teller chose, and saved stories stay playable for your family even after a membership ends — keeping your voices was the whole point.
